Can I Use a Similar-Looking Bulb Instead?

What Does “Not Verified” Mean on ALBulbs?

What Does “Verified” Mean?
A Verified fitment has stronger supporting information than a Not Verified result.
This may include qualifying manufacturer information or confirmation from multiple sources, depending on the application.
Verified results should still be compared with the vehicle when practical, particularly if the lighting system has been modified.
What Does “Cross-Checked Verified” Mean?
A Cross-Checked Verified result has a higher level of independent supporting confirmation within the ALBulbs verification system.
It provides additional confidence in the fitment, but you should still pay attention to the exact vehicle configuration and any fitment notes displayed with the result.

What Is a Fitment Note?
A fitment note provides additional information about when a bulb applies.
For example, a note may indicate that a particular bulb is associated with halogen headlights, a certain lighting package, a specific vehicle configuration, or another application detail.
Fitment notes should always be read together with the bulb number and lighting position.

Why Doesn’t the Bulb in My Vehicle Match the ALBulbs Result?
There are several possible explanations.
The vehicle may have a different factory configuration, a previous owner may have installed an aftermarket lamp assembly, the lighting system may have been modified, or the fitment information may require review.
First confirm that the correct year, make, model, configuration, and lighting position were selected.

Should I Check the Old Bulb Before Buying a New One?
Yes, whenever practical.

Are the Low Beam and High Beam the Same Bulb?
Sometimes, but not always.
Many vehicles use one bulb for the low beam and a different bulb for the high beam. Other headlamp systems may use a single light source to perform both functions.

What Is the Difference Between Halogen, HID, and LED Headlights?
Halogen headlights create light with a heated filament. HID, or high-intensity discharge, systems create light through an electrical arc and may use components such as a ballast or igniter.
LED headlights use light-emitting diodes. In many factory LED systems, the LEDs are integrated into the headlamp assembly rather than installed as a conventional removable bulb.

Can I Replace a Halogen Headlight Bulb With LED?
LED alternatives are available for many halogen bulb sizes, but matching the socket does not automatically guarantee full compatibility.
An LED headlight retrofit can be affected by physical clearance, cooling, electrical monitoring, and the optical design of the headlamp.

A bulb may appear very bright when viewed directly while producing poor light distribution inside the actual lamp housing.

What Is an LED Alternative on ALBulbs?

What Does CAN Bus Compatible Mean?
Some vehicles electronically monitor lighting circuits and may detect the lower electrical load of an LED replacement as though a conventional bulb has failed.
LED products described as CAN bus compatible generally include electronics intended to reduce these kinds of compatibility problems.
However, vehicle monitoring systems differ, so a general CAN bus compatibility claim does not guarantee error-free operation on every vehicle.
Why Is My LED Bulb Flickering?
LED flickering can have several causes. A vehicle may send small electrical monitoring pulses through the circuit, or the LED may be incompatible with the vehicle’s dimming or control system.
A poor socket connection, wiring issue, or defective bulb can also cause flickering.
If an LED behaves abnormally after installation, verify both the fitment and the vehicle-specific compatibility information.
Why Does My LED Bulb Glow When the Light Is Off?
Some vehicles allow a very small amount of current to remain in a lighting circuit even when the lamp is supposed to be off.
That current may be too low to illuminate a conventional incandescent filament but enough to make an efficient LED glow faintly.
The behavior depends on the vehicle and LED product.
Why Is My Turn Signal Blinking Fast After Installing an LED?
This condition is commonly called hyperflash.
Many vehicles use electrical load to detect a failed turn signal bulb. Because LEDs normally draw less current, the vehicle may interpret the LED as a failed conventional bulb and increase the flash rate.

Do I Need Amber LEDs for Turn Signals?
That depends on the lamp design.
A clear turn signal lens may require an amber light source, while a lamp with an amber lens may use a clear or white conventional bulb.
Always make sure the replacement produces the appropriate color for the intended signal function.
Should I Use Red LEDs for Brake and Tail Lights?
The appropriate LED color depends on the lamp housing and application.
A rear lamp with a red lens may interact differently with a white LED than with a red LED. Product and lamp design both matter.

Can One Bulb Be Both a Tail Light and Brake Light?

What Are Festoon Bulbs?

Can I Replace My Interior Bulbs With LEDs?

An LED festoon bulb that is too long, for example, may not fit securely even if it appears similar to the original bulb.
Why Doesn’t My New LED Interior Bulb Light Up?
