ALBulbs was created to make automotive light bulb fitment easier to understand. Instead of searching through generic bulb charts, product listings, and conflicting vehicle information, ALBulbs helps you start with your vehicle and work toward the bulb used for a specific lighting position.

In practice, automotive lighting can be much more complicated.

Two vehicles with the same year, make, and model may use different bulbs because of differences such as:

ALBulbs is built around the idea that identifying the correct fitment should come before choosing a product.

A replacement bulb can have excellent reviews, attractive specifications, or impressive brightness claims and still be the wrong bulb for a particular vehicle.

That is why ALBulbs separates the question of what bulb fits from the question of which replacement product you may want to buy.

The vehicle, lighting position, bulb number, configuration, and available fitment evidence come first.

Shopping options come after that.

Why ALBulbs Uses Verification Labels

Not every automotive fitment record has the same amount of supporting information.

Rather than presenting every result as though it has the same level of certainty, ALBulbs uses verification labels to provide additional context.

You may see labels such as:

  • Not Verified
  • Verified
  • Cross-Checked Verified

A Not Verified result does not automatically mean the fitment is incorrect. It means ALBulbs does not currently have enough qualifying supporting evidence to assign it a higher verification level.

A Verified result has stronger supporting fitment information.

A Cross-Checked Verified result has a higher level of independent supporting confirmation.

The purpose of these labels is transparency. We would rather tell you when additional confirmation is recommended than make every result appear equally certain.

Why Fitment Notes Matter

Sometimes a bulb number requires additional explanation.

A vehicle may have more than one headlamp system, a bulb may apply only to a particular configuration, or available fitment information may contain an important condition that should not be hidden.

ALBulbs can use fitment notes to preserve this additional context.

A fitment note may identify:

  • A particular headlamp type
  • A lighting configuration
  • A factory equipment difference
  • An application-specific condition
  • Information that deserves additional verification

Standard Replacements and LED Alternatives

ALBulbs distinguishes between a standard replacement and an LED alternative.

The standard fitment represents the bulb associated with the vehicle and lighting position. When an appropriate LED shopping option is available, it can be displayed separately as an LED Alternative.

This separation is intentional.

An LED alternative does not change the original bulb number identified for the vehicle.

LED conversions may also require additional compatibility checks involving:

  • Physical clearance
  • Electrical load
  • Polarity
  • CAN bus monitoring
  • Turn signal hyperflash
  • Dimming behavior
  • Heat management
  • Beam pattern

Why We Recommend Checking the Existing Bulb

Even good fitment information should be compared with the vehicle whenever practical.

Vehicles can be modified. Lamp assemblies can be replaced. Previous owners can install aftermarket headlights, tail lamps, or other lighting equipment that uses a different bulb from the original factory configuration.

There can also be production differences that are difficult to identify from the year and model alone.

We Want Incorrect Fitments Reported

No automotive fitment resource should assume that its information can never require correction.

If the bulb installed in your vehicle does not match an ALBulbs result, we want to hear about it.
